You're playing version 1.6.1.8 with zero risk. No card details, no deposit, no registration wall before you start. Completely free.

The demo runs on identical mathematics to the real game—same RNG, same return rate, same bonus trigger frequency. This isn't a "generous" demo version. It's the exact build from January 2023 that real-money players use. You'll see the free spins feature behave exactly as it would with cash on the line.

No spin limits, no timer counting down. You can test the 10-line setup, work out how the fisherman catch mechanic actually pays during the bonus, or just run a few hundred spins to see the volatility yourself. Reload the page if you burn through demo credits.

The demo sits on the same certified RNG as the live version. What you're testing here is what you'll get if you switch to real play. No surprises, no different behaviour once money's involved.

Before RTG spun out seven sequels, Megaways versions, and Fortune Play variants, there was just this: five reels, ten lines, and a fisherman who catches fish for cash during free spins. Fishin' Frenzy might look stripped-back compared to its descendants, but that's because it didn't need the extras—the core mechanic worked well enough to build an entire franchise around it. You can even toggle paylines on and off here, something that feels almost quaint now. But while modern slots pile on features, this 2014 original still gets the balance right: simple enough to grasp in seconds, sticky enough to keep you watching those boat scatters. It's not trying to be innovative anymore—it already did that job. Now it's just the straightforward version of a concept that clearly didn't need much improving in the first place.

How To Play

Before you spin, you'll need to set your stake using the bet menu. Click the stack of coins button on the right sidebar to open it. You've got two settings here: SELECT LINES lets you choose how many of the 10 win lines you want active (though in practice, all 10 lines remain active regardless), and SELECT BET adjusts your bet per line. Your total stake—displayed under BETS—ranges from £1.00 to £2,000.00 and gets deducted from your deposit balance when you spin.

Once your bet's sorted, hit the circular arrow spin button to start the reels. They'll spin and stop automatically from left to right, one after another. Here's something useful: while the reels are spinning, that spin button changes to a fast forward symbol. Click it if you want to stop the reels prematurely rather than waiting for them to finish naturally.

Autoplay Setup

If you'd rather not click spin every time, use the autoplay function. The circular arrows button (different from the single spin button) opens the autoplay menu. Under SELECT NUMBER OF PLAYS, choose how many spins you want to run automatically. Once you start autoplay, the button displays how many spins remain.

Worth knowing: autoplay stops itself when you trigger free spins or any bonus round. It'll also cut off if you hit the loss limit you set in the autoplay options menu (all settings marked with * are mandatory). You can manually interrupt autoplay anytime with the square stop button—pressing spin afterwards continues where you left off.

During Play

The game handles wins automatically. Any winning combinations light up on the active paylines, and your winnings credit straight to your balance. Three or more boat scatter symbols trigger the free spins bonus, which launches automatically—no button press needed.

The interface is straightforward, typical of Reel Time Gaming's design. The numbered boxes down both sides (1-10) show your active paylines in different colours, so you can track where wins land. Everything's designed for quick sessions with clear control over pace and spend.

Symbols & Payouts

Fishin' Frenzy uses a mix of fishing-themed symbols and traditional card values. All wins form left to right on consecutive reels, and you'll need at least 2 or 3 matching symbols depending on the type.

Symbol Payouts

Symbol 5 Matching 4 Matching 3 Matching 2 Matching
Pelican symbol Pelican (brown bird with large beak)
400,000 40,000 10,000 1,000
Fishing Rod symbol Fishing Rod (red and silver rod)
200,000 30,000 6,000
Life Preserver symbol Life Preserver (orange and white ring)
100,000 20,000 4,000
Tackle Box symbol Tackle Box (brown fishing box)
100,000 20,000 4,000
Card symbols A K Q J 10 A / K / Q / J / 10 (card symbols)
20,000 5,000 1,000

All payouts shown are multiplied by your bet per line. Only the highest win on each active payline gets paid, but wins across different lines add together.

Fisherman Wild symbol

Wild Symbol – The Fisherman

Here's the twist: there's no Wild during the base game. The Fisherman symbol (wearing a green vest and orange shirt, holding a large golden fish) only appears during free spins. When it does show up, it substitutes for everything except the Boat scatter.

But the Fisherman does more than substitute. During free spins, every Fisherman that lands collects the values from all Fish symbols visible on screen. Those Fish appear with set cash prizes: 20, 50, 100, 150, 200, 250, or 500. Each Fisherman grabs every fish value in view, and the totals add to your bonus winnings.

Fish symbol with cash value

The Fisherman also pays as its own symbol during the feature:

  • 5 Fishermen: 5,000
  • 4 Fishermen: 500
  • 3 Fishermen: 100
  • 2 Fishermen: 10
Boat Scatter symbol

Scatter Symbol – The Boat

The Boat scatter shows a fishing vessel with the word "SCATTER" displayed. It appears on any reel position and doesn't need to land on a payline to count. Three or more Boats anywhere in view trigger the free spins bonus.

Free Spins Bonus

Free Spins Bonus feature

Landing 3, 4, or 5 Boat scatters awards free spins:

During free spins, the game mechanics shift. Fish symbols start appearing on the reels, each displaying a cash value (ranging from 20 to 500). Whenever a Fisherman Wild lands on the same spin as Fish symbols, he catches all of them – you're awarded the sum of every fish value visible.

Multiple Fishermen on one spin? Each one collects the prize from every fish on screen, so the totals multiply quickly.

Free spins play on the same bet and number of lines as the spin that triggered them. The feature can't retrigger – you play through your awarded spins, collect any fish prizes the Fisherman catches, and return to the base game with your total bonus winnings.

The Original Frenzy

Pros

  • Selectable 1-10 paylines → rare control over volatility and bet structure
  • Straightforward collect mechanic → fisherman catches all fish values in view, nothing convoluted
  • Wide bet flexibility → accommodates £0.10 to £200+ per spin equivalent
  • Fast forward control → skip through base game when waiting for features
  • Clean, high-contrast visuals → easy to track fish values and wins at a glance
  • UK cult classic → spawned 10+ sequels because this formula works

Cons

  • No wild in base game → fisherman only appears during free spins
  • Free spins can't retrigger → 20 spins maximum is your ceiling
  • Dated by 2025 standards → the Megaways and Big Catch sequels refined this formula
  • Generic card symbols → 10-A pays don't match the fishing theme
  • Base game can feel dry → no wild action while hunting for scatters
